This smart hat is one of my kids favorites. It makes the scarfs unnecessary, does not fall off the head when they run and climb things, covers the ears and keeps the kids warm.
The hats look wonderful on boys and girls alike. Take relatively little yarn and a pleasure to knit. If you have ever wanted to try knitting socks but were putting it off - here is your chance for a practice run, this hat is shaped like a regular sock heel.
Go ahead and experiment with different colors!
Materials
1 ball of Swish Superwash in Worsted Weight, by Knit Picks in color A
1 ball of Swish Superwash in Worsted Weight, by Knit Picks in color B
Few yards of Swish Superwash, by Knit Picks in color C
You can, of course, substitute another Worsted Weight yarn, but the results will vary.
1 16" circular needle US 2 (2.75 mm)
1 16" circular needle US 5 (3.75 mm)
1 stitch marker
Stitch holder to temporary hold the stitches.
Tapestry needle to weave in the ends.
Gage
5 stitches and 6 ridges to 1"
Ridge is equals 2 rows of garter stitch.
