I had such a wonderful day yesterday!
It really does not take much to get me in the good mood. Just let me inhale some yarn fumes (or drop me in a middle of really large book store, or a bead shop…) and I am happy for hours. I told DH today that I needed a break. I earned a break. And I am taking a break.
I was going to my favorite yarn shop! He handed over the car keys. Kind of… In reality he drove me a few blocks to my friend’s house, where he handed over the car keys to her. I was very happy to stay a passenger.
Even a trip to the Post Office could not bring me down. Yarn, yarn, yarn! I needed more yarn. OK, OK, I did not need more yarn, but… I just wanted to be in a place where there was more yarn than in my house. Besides, while it is fun to buy yarn on Internet – this is my chance to go and see and pet new yarns in person. So off we went to my favorite LYS.
This is how it looks from outside
There is no sign announcing it’s presence. But there is a clue – a mini skein of yarn. As the saying goes – “Those, who need to know – know”. The outside is deceptive – inside the walls are full of yarn, that is bursting out of it’s shelves. Lots of colors and textures.
This tiny shop has all kinds of yarn! Everything from humble acrylics to exotic silks, from newest organic cotton to vintage “Dubai Stretch”.
I got a box of interesting vintage yarn with a thought of making it into a vest for me to wear in warmer climes.
I also got a few balls of that organic cotton. Just enough to make vest for DD #4, who is growing like a weed.
And some tweedy looking, but so soft Chine from Filatura Di Crosso. Last time I was there someone snatched the last few balls from under my nose.
At the end I could not resist a funky selfstripe yarn for a pair of socks.
And going with a friend, who is a yarn maven and can appreciate good yarn is the best thing of all. I do not think Aladdin had more fun in his cave!
