OK, OK, it is not really a question, it is more like a lament. Who needs snow days, indeed?! We went away for a weekend to Boston to celebrate a Bar Mitzvah of a close friends’ son. It was nice, but not a great knitting opportunity. Also I have to say that my Purple Pi was admired a lot. I might look a lot like Barney when I wear purple, but still love the color. There were 4 hours of driving – knitting time, but knitting is not the same somehow when you have to play referee between two very bored kids ages three and five, keep a sharp look out for the next service area, because someone (me) needs to go putty again. Add to it my Husband’s report that all was not well with one of the back wheels and that we are loosing air. Can you believe it? The man honestly does not understand that I do not want to know what might happen to us if the tire blows. I mean unless you think I can knit a patch for it – do not tell me! Again as I said knitting in my car is just not the same.
I really was looking forward to getting home and knitting all Monday long, or at least a few hours straight. My first clue that G-d might have other plans came in the form of phone call at 6 AM, that let me know that my daughters’ school was canceled.
I was too sleepy to do anything but grunt at the prerecorded message before falling asleep again. I admit it, it is my fault that I misinterpreted the next call from the boys’ school that came 20 minutes later, I thought it was more of the same. Only at 4 PM, did I found out, that the school was kindly letting me know that it was open.
And that is how the rest of the day went. As soon as I got anywhere near the yarn somebody needed something. And they needed it “Now”. At some point I was able to borrow a responsible teenager to take my kids in front of the building to play with the snow. But even that brought little relief because they kept coming back inside.
So in the end, I have started a crocheted baby dress only to realise today that I forgot to figure in the sleeves.
