I am back. Back in New York. I am still tired and sleepy, and maybe a bit grumpy. But we are back. Amazingly enough the move itself was not so bad. Or maybe I am beginning to forget the really gory parts.
My DH and two older kids went off first, and then it was me and the kids, driven by my wonderful Sister. Sis, thank you! We started out later than we planned and after making a few stops (I picked up some new yarn at A C Moore – bamboo-merino-angora blend) we were a few hours behind.
By the time we rolled into Brooklyn we were all hungry and thirsty. The backseat choir was deafening. To halt the performance we stopped to pick up a pizza and fries. Yea, I know, the healthy lunch.
I called my DH and told him to set the table. We were incredibly lucky to find a parking space, even if it was totally illegal. Parked, unloaded things and livestock a.k.a. kids, said tearful goodbyes to my Sister and my Dad and proceeded to inhale the pizza.
Then I looked around and gasped… Wow, while we were on the road DH and the older kids put away whatever was loaded into our car, did THREE loads of laundry and, yes folded the stuff and got it where it belongs. They washed the dishes. I will not question why there were so many dishes needed to be washed. And swept up the floor, disposing of the latest cattily offering.
Then after a brief rest – video for the kids, nap for the adults we disposed of a lot more bags. There is still plenty left, but they will wait until tomorrow.
Now I am off to knit and to sleep.
