I have no idea how I managed to get a cold while it is so hot outside. I guess I am really talented. I started getting sick Thursday night. But the power of denial is wonderful. I actually managed to convince myself that all I had is a simple headache.
By the time we were lighting candles, on Friday, I knew I was in trouble. I had a fever and my throat has closed up and was hearting a lot. Here I have to mention that I really dislike taking drugs. Any drugs. Even as simple as Tylenol.
And no, my parents do not get this attitude, not happy about it and openly disapprove.
So there I was freezing cold and shaking in what probably was a very hot room. I do not really enjoy having chills and was ready to give in and go for a pill, when I had AN IDEA. I put on my Daffodil socks. My lovely, long, warm, handknit socks.
Life was better instantly. Somehow the socks did what a quilt could not. They warmed me up and kept me warm through the night as my temperature went up and down.
I am feeling a bit better now. My throat is still clogged up and painful, but the headache and the fever are gone. Still… I am keeping my socks on.
