Yes, yes, yes!!!
This Mama got two new pairs of socks!
Two nice, long pairs of socks! I would not dare to make myself long socks just a year ago, but since I have lost not just weight, but inches, I decided to be brave and do it.
Yesterday was my knitting record braking day! I did one heel, two gussets, then two feet. I fell asleep before I could Kitchener the second toe. It was done this morning and since the weather has been cooperating, DH took the pictures right away!
I love both pairs! And I love at how differently they look, even if they have been made using the same pattern.
The “Slightly Cabled” Socks are made using Stroll Handpainted Yarn, from Knit Picks. The colorway is “Make Believe”.
The yarn has short bursts of many colors. None of the colors lasts longer than half a row. The cable looks very subtle, almost invisible. Yet not only does it add textural interest to the pattern, but also helps to hold up a pretty long (80 rounds) leg, since I definitely do not want it to slouch down.
The “Positive Socks” were knit with one of my favorite yarns – Opal. It has long stretches of colors (I got over 10 rounds in each color) with subtle changes from one color to another. In these socks the cable really stands out and says “Here I am!”
The same stitch pattern has produced totally different visual effects, but both pairs are very pretty and both of them are very comfortable too.
