I just realized yesterday that it has been more than a week since I posted last time. So much has happened, I am not sure I will be able to put it all into one post.
First – my knitting!
I am still knitting a lot on the “Ample Shawl“, I am not willing to take it off the needles again to have another picture taken. It will have to be done soon – to check the length, but not yet. It is at the point where each row takes a long time and I am getting a bit annoyed with it because it is bunched on the needles too tightly. I need to get longer cables from Knit Picks. Actually I know I got one long cable, but where is it? I have no idea. I am getting a bit bored with it too, especially since the friend this shawl intended for has left for US sooner than expected – last Wednesday. But after taking a small brake I am still diligently knitting it.
At some point I felt that I have overdosed on green, I wanted to knit, but could not settle down to it. So DH reminded me that I have not given much attention to the Ten Stitch Twist blanket in a while. This has been a wonderful cure! I have to say that I am totally in love with the Knit Picks Chroma Worsted. The yarn is lofty and soft, and the colors!!! I got to contrive the way to get me more of it. Despite some nylon in it the yarn will felt wonderfully and I am envisioning some felted bags made with it.
So what did I do after I disappeared of the net?
Here is a short list (with longer explanations and possibly photos following later):
Last week on Friday – DD#1 turned 12! We celebrated her Bas Mitzvah with the family. My dear MIL, and our cousins came. It was a wonderful celebration and DD#1 was very happy. She requested a dairy meal. So we had lots of salads, soft Israeli cheeses (yum!) and a ton of Ice Cream. Then Friday night we continued the celebration with our (and her) good friends. She got lots of good wishes and we had a huge cake.
On Monday – Rivka and I, and DD#4 went on the trip to Kivrey Tzaddikim (graves of the holy men) – our gift to Rivka. This trip was very exciting and deserves a post of it’s own.
On Tuesday – we made a small Bas Mitzvah farbrengen (chasidic gathering) for Rivka’s best friends – about 15 of them. Catered by me. We had live music and the girls had a ton of very organized and orderly fun. I chaperoned the proceedings and happy to report that my hearing is beginning to come back.
I have no idea where Wednesday and Thursday went. I guess I was recovering my breath. I have to take a look at the photos DD#1 took with her brand new camera and hopefully post some of them.
