On Thursday I woke up thinking about Purim and costumes and of course knitting.
So one of the things I have wanted to knit forever is a crown. I can see it in my minds eye – the yellow circlet attached to a round red hat.
So I needed some yellow and red yarn. And I knew exactly where to get it. In my WIP Closet!
When DS#3 was about a year old, I decided to knit him a romper. It was a time when I was totally in love with the Dale of Norway baby patterns. And in love with Baby Ull – the wonderful fingering merino yarn. Having said this I still do not understand why I thought I would like a bright read romper with yellow flecks on my baby. Just put it down to the delayed postpartum depression. Oh, I forgot to mention that the romper was knit on size “0” and size “1” needles. No wonder I have abandoned the project at some point! Well, it has been around for a while (DS#3 is now 6 years old) and I wanted that yarn. So I pulled out the bag to see what was in it.
There I found:
One and a half romper legs with needles in them.
2 skeins of red Baby Ull
2 skeins of yellow Baby Ull
1 skein of green Baby Ull
3 sets of DPNs
2 spare circular needles
1 tapestry needle
1 needle sizer.
I looked at the romper legs, thinking sadly about all that waisted knitting and then had an idea. What if I would turn the shorter leg into a baby hat? Then we can still do something like a strawberry costume. I added a roll-up brim. And yes, it will make a very nice hat. I just need to come up with a way to gather up the foot opening. To this I will add a green ruffled color. This, plus the baby, will make me a cute little strawberry.
And this is what I am working on now.
Will see what happens.
