It is so good to run away sometimes! Yesterday I did just that leaving DH to cope with all the kids while my friend drove us to Haifa. Our goals were dropping off my stitch markers for sale in one of the biggest yarn shops in Israel (this did not happen because the owner is away), buying fruit with the kosher supervision acceptable to DH (also did not happen – the store was closed) and visiting a health food shop/natural pharmacy. Before we got to Haifa we dropped by my friend’s home to pick up her baby. I live in the tiny dot of a city, but Nechama lives in a real village. First thing we saw when we got to her house was her 18 year-old son riding a horse. Ah! But there is something special about a cute young guy riding a beautiful horse! Then we went to Haifa. After getting only slightly lost after we got there we made it fairy fast through our first three destinations and then, as a good Mommy treat we went to Eden. OK, OK, I mean “Eden” – it is a huge natural food supermarket. The place is gigantic! Lots of fresh food, but also lots and lots of dry fruit, nuts, natural fruit and vegetable chips and so on. Really nice. Another wonderful thing about this outing was that I was not driving. So my hands could be busy with something nicer than a steering wheel. I put some thought into what I wanted to take with me and took a new crochet project (Wildflower Capelet for DD #3) for the way there, while we were riding in full day light and I needed to see my stitches.
And my ever-increasing Spiral 10 stitch blanket to knit on the way back in the relative darkness. Just a wonderfully relaxing semi-automatic knitting.
All in all perfect vacation from Pesach cleaning.
