Last Friday morning I woke up really early, got my kids out of doors. Got my Shabbos chicken in the oven, packed my knitting bag and proceeded to run away from home.
All the way to Tel Aviv.
This was a super radical thing for me to do, since usually I spend my Fridays frantically shopping and cooking and doing all the things I should have done all week, but did not, because I was too busy knitting.
Not only did I run away, but I also did not tell my kids I was planning to do that. Well, other than DS #1, who knew about my plans for weeks, since he was the one to drive me there.
Oh my! Now I realize, I forgot to tell you where “there” I went to! The knitters and crocheters of “Yarn and Falafel” Ravelry group had their annual knit out. And it was fun, fun, fun!
Good Yarn, amazing projects and wonderful company sums it up.
There were a few vendors, who sold yarn, knitting needles, shawl pins and project bags.
I had my new stitch markers with me and sold some. One of the things that went was “Apple Blossom” Stitch Marker Holder Pendant. So now I only got 3 left.
Did I buy anything? Need you ask?
Of course I did! But not much. This means that I wish I could have bought much more, but I run out of money. Actually, buying yarn was the first thing I did.
I got three skeins of “Ruca Multy”, Araucania.
The yarn is made from 100% sugarcane fiber. I never tried that one before but it looks and feels like very soft cotton.
My other yarn buy was a skein of Kauni Rainbow in Worsted Weight.
The same vendor (Esse Yarns) that sells Kauni is selling off her stock of Addi needles. All of them, DPNs, Circulars, Single points were only 10 shekels a pair! This is about TREE dollars! And yes, she had crochet hooks too! She is getting out of knitting and is going into needle felting big time. So yes, I just had to buy a bunch of needles!
And started using one pair right away.
Last but not least were new square needle tips for interchangeable needles from Knit Pro. And two pairs of new DPNs.
And then my money run out, so I could stop looking, and just sat down and knit and talk and look at other people projects.
My “knit out project” was my Rainbow Joy Shawl. What can I say? I am in love with Kauni.
By the way the kids did not figure out that I have disappeared until close to 1p.m.!
DD #2 called me and asked me where I was. I told her that I was in Tel Aviv, and she said, sure and I am going to the Moon in 10 minutes. It took me a while to convince her that I was indeed in Tel Aviv and will be home just before Shabbos.
