It has been a few years since I have started a major crochet project. Although I started crocheting before I learned to knit, I have to admit that I consider myself a knitter first. I am not sure why and how it happened but knitting has become my main way of expressing myself. A flashback to my Grate Grandmother, who was an amazing knitter? A protest against my Grandma, who always disdained knitting in favor of crochet? An attempt to prove to my knitting mentor Olga that most (if not all) knitting rules can and should be broken? Whatever it is I have not done much crochet in a while.
But all things change! After I poured myself into my latest Ample Shawl (pattern here)- the I-Cord edging took 12 hours of practically uninterrupted and very monotonous knitting, I needed a change of pace!
And this is why my next major project is crochet vest!
Once again I am using Kauni, from Esse-Yarn. I find the yarn amazingly versatile and while the shading from color to color looks differently than in a knit item it is gorgeous! The colors are reminiscent of the late Winter – early Spring here in Israel – colors of blooming Rosemary and Lavender.
I just hope I have enough yarn!
