I am still continuing the contest with myself – trying to see how many more things I can finish up before December 31st.
I have to say that I have been accomplishing quite a lot. Partly because the orders for stitch markers are gradually tapering off. And partly because I just have not been feeling well physically, so I spend more time in bed knitting.
The weather is also encouraging me to knit more and to knit faster. Kids need hats and mittens. I was very happy when I realised that DD #2 still has a hat from last year and it still fits. This means that I “only” need hats for two older boys and DD #1. The boys are easy, they all want the same colors, I just hope I have enough yarn left. The yarn they picked is “Hawk” from Dale of Norway. It is wool coated – get this – with Teflon. It supposed to repel water and stains – just the thing for boys. On the other hand DD #1 is still trying to make up her mind about the color of the yarn and the texture and if she wants me to knit it or is she going to do it herself. She actually can do it, but she hates following instructions, especially my instruction, so she is at the end of the line.
On the other hand DD #3 has two hats already and I am almost finished making a third one. Why? I do not know call it a compulsion. I had to go and make a toddler sized “Over The Heel” hat. It is practically done, I just need to try it on her before binding off.
Mittens are more problematic. I had to unravel an almost finished mitten I was making for DS #1 – it was too loose. Now I am up to a finger hole in the new one. This time I stopped and put it away so he can try it on before I go further.
With all this “obligatory knitting” I have sneaked some time for my own. I have finished a pair of “Luxury Footies” made from cashmere. YUMMY….
The pattern will be posted later on.
I am also almost done with my “Noro Slippers”.
