By some kind of miracle the house is quiet. Kids are due to come home in about half an hour, the baby is still napping (I told you miracles) and I am sitting on the floor in my future studio and hugging the duffel bag with all the yarny things DH brought for me from US.
One of the more difficult adjustments when we came to Israel was going from NY with lots of wonderful yarn shops, all different and all special to the tiny town of Migdal HaEmek with one store that has some yarn. And most of that yarn at the time was cheep, plasticky feeling acrylic.
The closest real yarn fix is in Haifa, though I have to admit that our local shop has gotten much better over the past year and now they even stock Knit Picks needles. But a trip to Haifa is not easy and happens about twice a year.
That is why I was so excited when DH finally ordered his ticket to New York.
And just made a few orders…
After many years of using Hefty sliding bags for all my projects 6 months ago I finally decided to buy some pretty project bags to tote about. I loved them so much (especially the box bags) that these bags were the first thing I ordered.
These two came from “A Needle Runs Through it”, on Etsy.
And this pretty trio came from Magpie Wishes, also on Etsy.
Both orders included custom made bags and both ladies were wonderful!
I have not been crocheting much lately, but I have a few projects that I would like to do. A while ago I got a beautiful rosewood hook from Lacis. For such a wonderfully ergonomic tool these hooks are very inexpensive.
This time I got three in the sizes I tend to use most.
And talking about tools, I was really surprised by the square needles from Kollage. My arthritic hands love them! I am seriously thinking about switching to them exclusively, I just wish they came in Bamboo.
Lately I have discovered that wearing blue makes me happy. And so I got some yarn for my new Blue Vest.
I got 15 balls of WW Rhythm, by Jojoland from Webs. Also from Webs came this ball of Opal “Sweet and Spicy”.
The colorway is called “Cake Pops”. Forget the socks, this ball of sock yarn will make a perfect Winter dress for my 2 year old DD #5.
And last, but not least are the 5 gorgeous skeins of sock yarn from Loopy Ewe.
They are from right to left:
1. Willow, from Huckleberry Knits, colorway “Seek No Further”.
2. Vengeance, from Hedgehog Fibres.
3. Loopy Legends, by the Loopy Ewe, colorway “Sharon’s Island Time”.
4. Pashmina, by Madeleintosh. Colorway – Mala
5. Casbah by Hand Maiden. Colorway – Woodland.
Besides all these yarn riches I got a new sock blocker and two knitting books.
And it came to me just a few days after the New York Sheep and Wool. And so I had my own private fiber fest thanks to DH who very happily brought it over.
