We have finally took a picture of my Summer Vest in progress.
This is the first time I am working with a rayon/cotton blend. I have bought this yarn a few years ago for a song from a distributor, who was going out of business. I bought it mainly for its color and becouse the price was so low. Oh, and becouse I was attracted by the notion of buying Russian yarn.
These might not be the right reasons to buy yarn, but they were my reasons.
So the yarn has aged in my stash and made the trip to Israel, and aged some more. Now I have decided that a slinky cool rayon yarn will be perfect for a cool vest that I could wear in warm weather.
It took me a while to come up with the “right” stitch pattern for this yarn. It has no memory at all and the complicated patterns I was attracted to looked messy. In the end I settled on a fairly simple pattern of shells. The simplicity of it will make it easier to increase the fabric as I am crocheting from top of the back towards the bottom. At least I hope so. I am also hoping to finish this vest by May 18, when the “Yarn and Falafel” group meets up in Tel Aviv.
