We all dream of something. Most of us dream of love – to share, to give, to get.
Peace. For us. For our children. For their children. And even for other people’s children.
But what is it with Fuzzy Pink Elephants?
I happen to like Elephants. They remind me of… me. And not just in dimensions. Or the lengths of their pregnancies. They are hard workers, who should be invisible, yet they are afraid of little mice and get bossed around by people. But Fuzzy Pink Elephants?!
When I was about 10, I have seen a movie about a little boy that loved an elephant, who lived in a Zoo. They became friends and had adventures. The movie had a song about a Pink Elephant. It was a symbol of pure child’s dream and its fragility. It was also one of the few totally non-political movies.
Somehow that image stayed with me since then.
So, when my newly knitting buddy Nechama found a knitted “Fuzzy Pink Elephant” for sale on one of the Russian websites we were hooked. We had to have a Pink Elephant.
Of course, we were not going to buy one! We are planning to knit our own Pink Elephants. Our Fuzzy Pink Elephants!
If what you see in this photo does not look like an elephant so far – do not wonder, I am simply knitting it tale – to ears. So what you are seeing is the Fuzzy Pink Elephant bottom. It might be a bit… backward, but hey, it is my dream and I can knit it the way I want to.
