Lambs Pride worsted in color A – Supreme Purple 2 skeins, one skein was almost enough for both bags. I have decided to open up a new skein to make up the difference.
Lambs Pride worsted in color B – Amethyst 2skeins.
Circular needles #10
DPNs # 10
Crochet hook size K
Using a long tail cast on, with color A,
Row 1 K34,P1.
Row 2 Sl1,K33,P1.
Repeat Row 2 for 57 ridges (114 rows).
Switch to color B and repeat Row 2 for 20 ridges (40 rows)
If you can crochet –
With the hook cast off making picot Ch4 egging.
If you can not:
Then cast off loosely.
Fold the rectangle lengthwise lining up Cast on edge and the last row of color A.
Pick up the stitches on each layer of one side, put top and bottom layers on separate needles.
We will do a hybrid of three needle cast off and an applied I-cord.
Start the 3 stitch I-cord with color B on one of the DPN’s. Now slip the stitches with the Yarn in the back onto the needle that holds the stitches from the bottom layer. Knit 2 stitches. Then Knit the 3rd stitch together with the first stitch of each layer. Continue until you finished binding off all the stitches on that side.
Continuing the I-cord K2M1K1. Now you will have a 4 stitch I-cord. Continue for 110 rows or until long enough. On the next row decrease to 3 stitches. Pick up the stitches on each layer of the other side of the bag and proceed to do the same three needle bind off+applied I-cord hybrid that we did before.
To give your bag a finished look knit a 2 stitch I-cord onto the cast on edge.
Put it through the washer. It took me two times on “hot” to get the look I wanted.
