Again the time has gotten away from me and went on ahead. All I can offer is my all around excuse – all kids are home…
This means that “ME” time has become a mere memory that does not even seem real at this point. Oh well, just another month…
But I am knitting a lot!
Meanwhile I have not had a chance or bran power to unravel any more interesting Russian Stitches. I do have one that I knit last week but did not publish yet and if time and children will let me I hope to publish it today or tomorrow.
Mainly I have been finishing up all the projects I have started before I took my vacation from knitting.
My Big Twist purple socks have been happily finished last week.
They turned out to be much nicer than I have expected them to be. The yarn – is lovely! Super soft and gentle on my sensitive skin. I am not exactly sure how it happened but I do not have a record of what yarn I used. I just remember that it was 6ply with Aloe in it and I bought it from WEBS. All and all a very good pair of socks, but way too warm to wear now.
On Sunday DD #2 had to go in to see a dentist. You know, I think Dentists LOVE knitters. After all no one else (well, besides the emergency room triage) is so generous in giving us plenty of time to sit and knit quietly. I took with me “Emergency Sweater” I started for DD #5 in October. Yea, turned out to be not so emergency after all, but at least she will have it for this Fall. While waiting to be seen I finished the bottom (about 30 rounds), neck and one sleeve! Then, next morning I decided that I did not like the shape of the sleeve, ripped out most of it and re-knit it and did the matching second sleeve. Now I just have to weave in the ends…
Then, on Monday I finished 2 little hats that have been started a while ago. An “Easy Checks” Hat for DD #4. It is too simple to do a “real” pattern for it, but the “recipe” is in my Ravelry notes for this project. I made it public, so you do not have to a Ravelry member to take a look at it.
And another “Checkered Twist” hat. This one is for DD #5.
I still need to work some more on the pattern for the second hat. I think the top is too fussy…
Possibly a simple ribbing will look cleaner… What do you think?
I have also put in some time on my current BIP (blanket in progress) It has already ate 2 skeins of yarn and I got three more skeins to knit into it. Unfortunately it is impossible to photograph the BIP at this point since it is being knit in the round and looks like a giant string bag.
That is about all for right now. Got to go and check on the Honey Cake, baking in the oven. And possibly mix a butter for pancakes. Kids love them, but they take such a long time to fry one by one. And with my family making less than forty is simply asking for trouble, LOL.
