I have mentioned these little hats awhile ago. It took me some time to write up the patterns. Longer than I thought it would.
Besides being cute baby toppers they were an experiment with the good old “Feather and Fan” stitch pattern. I wanted to see the difference between the lace pattern started from the top
One of the things I was interested in was the pretty wave on the bottom.
Well, I think that the lace pattern looks practically the same on either hat.
Personally I like the hat started from the top a bit better, but other than that I think it comes down to the preference between making increases on the way down, or decreases on the way up. The pattern instructions are written for size 3 – 6 months, with instruction on how to up-size the hats to size 6 – 12 months.
What do you think?
Pattern for both hats is now available from my Chicken Stitches website.
