Here is another project started right after the baby was born (within the first 10 days, so I can claim insanity here and get away with it). This UFO is not as aged as the one before. I began knitting this “Little Darling” baby dress almost two years ago, when DD#4 was born. It is knit in lace weight yarn using #1 US needles. It is sized 3 to 6 months. I am not sure why I thought I can finish it before the baby was way too big for it. Like I said before – I claim insanity!
I did enjoy knitting it. It looks beautiful! And I am very proud of having finished it. It was one of the most challenging things I knit. Not becouse of the pattern – that was easy. But becouse I could barely see the progress on it as I knit. The row gage is 13 rows to 1″!
And when I made mistakes in the lace part (a few times) I had to rip back. Sometimes a couple of inches back. Not easy to take. But the result was definitely worth it. The dress is very light – it actualy weighs less than 50 grams! And it is amazingly pleasant to the touch. It is so pretty that a few people, who have seen me knitting it wondered if I want to give or sell it to them. No way! Not this dress!
For a while I thought that this dress will never get done. But when I decided that the time came to finally finish it, surprisingly I did. It took only a few hours.
Now I will put it away to wait for a special recipient, since DD#4 is way too large for it.
P.S. I got half of ball left over. But somehow I do not see myself knitting another dress with it. Ever!
