Less than three hours left until the beginning of the last day of Sukkot. Yet there are no usual signs of frantic per-holiday activity anywhere. The oven is off and nothing is bubbling on the stove. What happened?
Boys (all three of them) have left.
They have gone to Hulon, in the South. DS 1 helps out the Rabbi there a lot. He has spent most of the Holidays there for the past two years. This year he lead some of the prayers on Rosh HaShono and blew the Shofar. Then lead more prayers on Yom Kippur. Came home for a day, to build us a Sukkah and went back again to do a lot more building there. Since DH has left DS 1 came home to help me and be a “substitute head male”. Well they wanted him back for the last day of Succot so much, that they invited him back with his younger brothers! Of course my boys wanted to go. I hope that they will have lots of fun dancing on Simcas Torah.
The boys will be back for Shabbos, meanwhile we are male free for the next two days. I marvel at the difference the absence of testosterone in the air makes.
We bought most of the food. There is leftover chicken soup and believe it or not, there is a leftover honey cake.
The only thing left to make is cuscus to go with the meat I bought.
Easiest Yom Tov (holiday) in the past 18 years!
And so, I got that greatest commodity of all – free time on my hands.
How am I going to spend it?
I am going to knit! The first Amazing Siberian Slipper for DH is almost done. Let me see if I can finish it up!
P.S. Boys just called to let me know that they have arrived.
