I do not know about you, but my family has a “box thing”. Every box that comes into our home is looked at with a watchful and benevolent eye. Then my Mother or Grandmother tell it: what a wonderful box it is and how it will be used again. Then the boxes are carefully put away to wait their turn to be useful. I have been limited in that regard by the small size of my apartment. There are so many of us, that I have no space to host the empty boxes. Still I feel a bit guilty throwing away perfectly good ones.
With that comes an element of surprise every time I am presented with a reused box. It is impossible to guess what is inside.
Well, one of those boxes came to me today. My Grandmother got a driver from her adult daycare to drive by our house. She wanted to drop off the “mystery box”.
Last one had lots of small skeins of fishing line, this one held a true miracle. Two crochet coats for DD #1 and DD #2. They are amazing. My Grandma is practically blind. All she can now see is shadows. You can never tell this by looking at the coats. The details are amazing! There are no missed or unintentionally decreased stitches. Both coats are different. And of course she did not use a pattern.
The coats have definitely got the “room to grow”. I think the girls will catch up to them by next year.
