Sometimes the best plans go awry.
I have started knitting a Rainbow version of the Amazing Siberian Slippers for my friend Maggie a couple of days ago. And instead of doing the cuff in the way I have put into my pattern I thought I would try something different. I wanted to make a longer leg, that would go higher and help even better protect my friend from cold, since she lives in a barn in the beautiful, but chilly upstate New York.
Good intention, right?
I have just finished knitting the first slipper. Well, almost finished… It looked a bit small to me, so I decided to try it on, since we both wear the same size. And it kind of stretched to accommodate my foot, but there was definitely not enough length to it.
So now I have a dilemma.
I know exactly what I need to do to fix this situation, problem is – it has to be done at the very beginning and this would mean the frog pond. But with first slipper almost done
and second half way there
it would be simply wasteful to undo all this knitting.
And so I have made an executive decision. I will finish them up today without any special recipient in mind. I will not worry about it. I am sure that I will come up with a Cinderella for my Amazing Rainbow Slippers. And Maggie – do not worry, your slippers are coming up next! I got more than enough yarn for two more pairs of Rainbows!
