I can not believe it. The Baby Checks blanket is done! This blanket has been with me for such a long time. And it is finally finished. I have actually done a Victory dance, also some people, who shell remain nameless, said that it more resembled a Victory Hop.
Whatever it is, the ends are woven in and cut. And now I have a very nice baby blanket to give to someone. I am still figuring out who the intended victim, sorry recipient, will be.
I was asked about the pattern and I would be happy to share it. But there is not one. It is just double basket-weave stitch, until you get tired of it. So here is the recipe for my blanket:
Chain enough stitches for the length of the blanket, the number has to be divisible by 4 plus 5 stitches.
for instance 100 stitches (divisible by 4) plus 5.
Ch – chain
dc – double crochet
fpdc – front post double crochet
bpdc – back post double crochet
1dc in the fourth stitch from the hook, dc all stitches to the end. Ch 3.
1dc in the first st of the previous row, (2fpdc in the next two stitches, 2 bpdc in the next 2 stitches) repeat to the last stitch, 1dc in the last stitch.
1dc in the first st of the previous row, (2bpdc in the next two stitches, 2 fpdc in the next 2 stitches) repeat to the last stitch, 1dc in the last stitch.
Repeat rows 2-5 until you run out of yarn or patience, whatever comes first.
Good luck and have fun.
