I think this has been the longest time I did not post.
Not because I did not try. Many times I would start writing something, get distracted, or fall asleep, or run somewhere else and the end result was – no posts. I will try to do better now, but no promises, because there really no more time left to me “for myself”. We are going to board the plane on February 9Th, G-d willing, that is in less than two weeks!!!
I am exited and scared and totally overvelmed by all that needs to be done.
I am also in Philadelphia now. Visiting my Mom and Dad. I am glad to see them, and they are happy to see us. The interesting weather we are having has messed up our secondary plans so far. I needed to buy some things. Like polar fleece for blankets, Legos, and Arts and Crafts supplies to entertain my kids during the first few weeks. Well my Mom can not drive in this weather. So we are more or less staying home.
But at some point today my Sister and I were totally overcome with cabin fever. So we made a run to Toys’R Us. I was totally shocked that a set of 102 Lego bricks is $50.00!!! Now that is really expensive!!! And I am not talking about a fancy set. Just bricks. My Sister’s girlfriend gave us a wonderful tip – visit thrift shops. And if the weather will cooperate we will try tomorrow.
As to my knitting – somehow I was not knitting much in the past three weeks. And when I did – I did not like what I made. So I frogger, frogged, frogged!!!
When I came to Philadelphia I brought a huge bag of yarn with me, hoping to get inspired. Well, I got inspired on fast forward. Just after I took a look at the hats my Mom and Dad are wearing. They are identical black acrylic horrors. So I raided my Mom’s stash and I am now almost done with her hat. I am using a vintage handspan single from a friend and some lovely plum bulky wool, just narrow stripes, changing every row. I have almost finished a hat I promised my niece. Both hats were started on Tuesday. The plan is to get them done tonight and then I will have Friday and Sunday for my Father’s hat. My Sister asked if I can make slippers for her and a vest for my 6 year old nephew. I told her that the only way it can happen is if she will shove the motor up my b-t.
OK, now I need to eat and then get to knitting!
