There are so many things about it that appeal to me. I love flowers. Unfortunately the only thing willing to grow in my apartment are potatos. So no plants. Today I have treated myself and bought me a huge bouquet of white lilacs. The smell is so wonderful. They are my favorite flowers. When I get to live in a place where I can have a patch of soil I will plant lilacs. I got my DH a bouquet of hot pink peonies.
It is our custom to have a dairy meal on the first day of Shavuot. And then an hour later a meat meal. That is a lot to eat. We solve this by having an upside-down day. Our dairy meal will be full of deserts. We are having some really nice cheese, ice cream and chocolate mousse. My kitchen is so tiny that I can not designate a separate space for dairy and meat. Because of it, when we moved in, we decided that we will only cook meat. That is why yesterday I went to my friend Tamar, who has helped me to prepare my mousse. Oh, and DD#1 made a small cheesecake in school.
Also yesterday I got to learn how to male small pouches for my markers. Now I have four pouches ready to go out to four special people I have met at the Maryland Sheep and Wool.
I am not going to take a picture of the contents, I want it to be a surprise to them.
So Happy Shavuot to all who celebrates. May you receive Torah with thunder and lightning. And as the Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe said – with happiness and ability to internalize it.
