Knitting and crochet is the best form of therapy I know. I was worried for a few days that I could not knit or crochet at all. Happily I am now back to my craft and love every stitch!
By the way, I took the knitting with me to court too (see my previous post). I actually took 4 projects with me. Here is how I packed. First, I took the Long Good Mood shawl I am currently knitting for a friend. Then, I thought that the security guards at such places are funny and might object to the metal needles, so I took an embryonic shrug for myself with wooden needles. Then, I was still feeling anxious, so I took with me a Shiny Good Mood Shawl. I am knitting it out of the very dark navy blue tape with a thread of glitter in it on US size 13 rosewood needles and thought I was making it for myself. After I packed all of this I decided to grab a bag with the new crochet hat I am working on.
As it turned out I was right to be anxious. The security guard nicely, but firmly confiscated all of my knitting projects. But after I demonstrated how thick and dull (read harmless) size 13 wooden needles are I was allowed to keep this project. The look on the guard’s face as I unpacked bag after bag of yarn and needles was priceless. The only other things in the bag were a cell phone and a bottle of water.
Knitting like I was possessed really helped me to keep my cool as things disintegrated all around us. The only thing is – I am pretty sure, I will finish the shawl. I am also very sure I will never ever wear it…
