It is after midnight…
I should be sleeping. There are lots of reasons why I should be sleeping now, the main one is that I will have to be up at 6 AM tomorrow and out of the house by 7.
I am going on a trip. A major, major shopping trip to Bney Brack. We usually do that twice a year – before Pesach and before the beginning of school year.
I will be after a whole bunch of boring things like underwear and tights and school uniforms… Unfortunately the yarn store is not on the agenda, but I have high hopes for the English book store. Hey, this Mammy wants a treat.
Talking about treats I am hoping for lunch at the good old Shwarma place. The one where they charge us five shekels extra if we want our lunch on the plate. I have to admit that I have rarely seen anyone take advantage of the “plate special”, most people simply eat their lunch from brown bags. If you are ever there, no matter what you do do not order steak. Trust me! I have made this mistake once. When I ordered it I was picturing in my mind a nice juicy beef steak… It never happened… Instead I got something brown, small and incredibly tough (tougher than my teeth). It looked and felt, and tasted like a sole of the shoe. Forensic investigation assured us that it was made of chicken. I did not want to know what was done to it.
So what am I doing up anyway? I mean besides telling tales of culinary horror…
I am packing!
Now this is a serious business!
I needed to figure out what projects do I want to take with me. And how many of them.
his time around I have decided to be kind of reasonable, or at least I told that to myself. So I put two restraints on my packing:
1 – I will not start any new projects specially for this trip. I will not!
2 – I will limit myself to only three projects (yes, no more than three).
And now comes the toughest part – the choice!
It is a two hour trip each way. And I am going with my 13 year old daughter. I am expecting some major waiting time sitting and looking at her try on new uniforms and other things she can not live without. So I better be prepared.
Now I am thinking three projects might not be enough…
I think I am going to mainly knit the Sorbet skirt. It is now in its final section. But I still have to knit the ruffles for it. So I am taking a needle for that.
The next project in is my pair of socks in progress. I know I will finish them. One day.
The last one in the bag is the shawl in progress. I debated with myself if I want to take the Summer Shawl along – I will need it sooner and it is further along, or Winter Shawl – the yarn is not so slippery and the rows are much shorter. And no, I am not going to take both of them!
I think the Winter is the winner on this trip. But I might still change my mind in the morning.
I think I will sleep on it.
