This year a friend and an admirer of my Amazing Siberian Slippers pattern invited me to participate in a Giftalong on Ravelry.
What is Giftalong?
It is a fun way to knit presents as a group and have lots of fun doing it!
Participating independent designers (lots of them) will discount their patterns by 25% for all the participants. There will also be lots and lots of prizes! Free pattern coupons and actual physical prizes. I am donating a stitch marker holder and a removable stitch marker – glow in the dark sheep. There is lots of yarn, needles, hooks and other goodies too!
And designers will participate in group discussions, answer questions and so on.
Why is it an adventure for me?
Well first of all, I have learned a lot of new computer skills. Not voluntarily. DH was simply not available to help me out now. So I had to do lots of new computer and technical Ravelry related things on my own. This is not easy. Two years ago I had a mini-stroke. Since then I had to re-learn doing the old familiar things in a new way. I read a lot slower and get tired a lot faster. Writing has been hard too. And pattern writing almost impossible until now. It is getting much better with time, but learning anything new is difficult and stressful. And there was lots to learn!
One of my new experiences was learning how to make photo collages
I know it is not brilliant, but I made it! I have to say that the people who are running the Giftalong are very, very helpful. My questions were answered, concerns addressed and pats on the back were distributed freely. One of the lovely ladies there even helped me update my Ravatar
I am hoping to meet a lot of new friends, discover new patterns I must have and learn from other independent designers. I also hope that you, my readers, will check it out!
