Hello, my name is Henya and I am a Yarnocholick. This condition is chronic, permanent and irreversible. It is also hereditary. And I do not mind at all. I actually come from a proud line of Yarn Stashers, who inherited eye color from Dad, hair from uncle Chaim and a compulsion towards Yarn stashing from Mom.
My DGM, may she be well for many years to come is 89, she has been crocheting for more than 80. I suspect she did some knitting when she was young, but she will not admit to it. In her stash she has yarn, that is a lot older than me. She brought her stash with her from Russia, just in case there was no yarn in America. And despite being legally blind she can feel a good yarn all the way away in my stash and raids it periodically.
My Mom on the other hand picked up the stash habit from me. I have proved so infectious over the years that in addition to her original sewing stash my Mother is a proud possessor of a huge yarn and bead stashes.
On the other hand my kids have also started building stashes of their own. Even my seven year-old Son has his special yarn. Even DH is not safe. Since he learned to knit, OUR stash has grown by leaps and bounds.
