I just got back from an all-day trip to Yerushalaim. Last night I told my friend that I was not looking forward to it because I was feeling so intimidated just by the idea of going on my own with a moody teenager (DD #1) in tow. This was the first time I attempted to “do” Jerusalem without a specific tourist program. I had a list of things I needed to buy and a few ideas of where to look for what I wanted. And we had to leave on 10.30 p.m. bus (one and only) back home. It was wonderful! And tomorrow I will write more about it! All I can say now is – success! Huge success! The main thing I gained was absolutely free! Now I know that yes, despite the language barrier I can board the right bus, or get off the wrong one. Yes, I can find exactly what I need if I look around. If not in the shop, then by asking likely people. And, again, despite the language barrier most of them will understand me. So nice to feel that my circle of “things I can do” just got bigger!
