I know, I know, someone else used this title before. But, hey, I used to love Star Track and it is a good title, so I will re-use it and hope Paramount will not decide to sue for copyright infringement.
Well, like all wonderful things this batch of Jewish Holidays is over. They were amazing! They were fun! They were not easy! And now, that they are over I wish we had a bit leftover for tomorrow.
I have been fully observant for the past 15 years. I thought that I am a veteran where it comes to “doing” the Holidays. Well, needless to say that this year was absolutely different! After all where else can we practice a game of “let’s count the leftover Lulavs”, the ones still amazingly attached to the palm trees, as you walk to shul. And instead of the familiar cedar branches – this year we had palm leaves on the roof of the Sukkah. I do not know why this was such a surprise for me. There were lots of Sukkahs dotting the streets of – Migdal HaEmek – the little town we live in. Lots of people who are not religious had them too!
It was wonderful to sit in the Sukkah and not worry about being rained on, cold, or getting a brick through our roof from hostile neighbors. And yes, it was very nice not to have to climb into our Sukkah through the window – something we had to do for the past 10 years.
All in all lovely weather, wonderful time with friends and family, a very special Holiday season.
And now I am getting back to the regularly scheduled life.
